Date: July 7 - 9, 2017

Who: Girls entering 6-12th grade, or entering first year of college

Location: Amherst College

What you can expect:

  • Instruction and evaluation from the Amherst Field Hockey Academy coaching staff through skill sessions and game play on Gooding Field, our artificial surface.
  • Meals in Valentine Dining Hall
  • Lodging in beautiful Amherst College dormitory
  • Free gear: reversible jersey, water bottle, backpack
  • Specific goalkeeping instruction
  • Additional sessions covering agilities and nutrition
  • The opportunity to meet and talk with current Amherst Field Hockey coaches and players.

Accommodations:

Overnight participants will be housed in the beautiful Greenway A dormitory at Amherst College. Participants will be provided with a bed, mattress, pillow and blanket. Academy staff, including a Certified Athletic Trainer, will reside in the dormitory throughout the duration of the Academy.

Day Students:

We will have a lounge in the dorm for day participants to use between sessions and also provide them with a security card to gain access to the dorm.

Meals:

All meals will be served in Valentine Dining Hall, the campus dining hall. The first meal will be dinner on Friday, July 7th and the last meals will be breakfast on Sunday, July 9th. There will also be a snack bar open in the dorm each night with pizza, snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Amherst Field Hockey Academy


The Amherst Field Hockey Academy is a great opportunity to improve your play through skill sessions as well as coached game play. Players will be placed in skill groups based on their age and experience and will be taught stick skills as well as small game tactics and strategies. Players will also be put on teams and games will be played each day, resulting in a championship on the final day of the academy. This is a great opportunity for individuals and teams to take their game to the next level and prepare for the upcoming season while having fun! This is also a great opportunity to be evaluated by the Amherst College Field Hockey coaching staff and get to know more about the Amherst College Field Hockey program.

Transportation:

Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the Academy. Driving directions to campus can be found HERE and information on travel, including shuttle services from Bradley airport can be found HERE. Information on lodging and restaurants in the Amherst area are ATTACHED.

Tour and Information Session:

We will have an admission officer run an information session during the Academy. If you are interested in attending a campus tour through the Admission Office before or after, please click HERE for more information.

Refund Policy:

Deposits are due with your application and are nonrefundable. Final balances are due by June 20th.
